Being With Pain

Illness. Pain. The mind wants solutions… suggesting… trying… what if this, what if that…. it wants to escape the body pain… now! It’s so persistent in its quest to stop this actual ‘what is’ state. Jibber-jabbering away wanting to be helpful. I’m sitting here watching it do its thing… creating fear, scary thought, anxiety stories, all kinds and varieties of stories. I used to resist the mind and the body and the stories, but that just kept me tethered even more. So, I watch it do its thing. Jibber-jabber… when will it?… what if?… stop me in my tracks writhe, grimace involuntarily; disapprove of it as I’m sending it love and approval; call out to Uriel, Lester, god god god, a friend… what a cacophonous symphony. Not a distraction. Not to be denied, ignored, or by-passed. But to have the courage to dive into the apparent chaos where peace, pain, noise, silence, whatever-ness, and all of it resides. This is the challenge of illness… and life.
Courage to be with all of it, and to let it be all of what it is. Until it isn’t.

Mu Comment / Marianne Williamson Reply

lightbody-yin-yangMarianne Williamson: Okay, I want to read to you an email that I just got here, which is interesting. It’s a woman who says:

Mu says: Just a comment here. I hear so many people playing weak. Playing small. Playing a victim as if it’s all out of their control. I’ve been there and I’ve done that in the past. But I’ve learned that the greatest knowledge, peace, and strength lies in knowing – really knowing, that we are so much bigger than we think. We are bigger than our mind. Bigger than our ego. Bigger than food, bigger than any addiction. We do not have to believe these stories that are not even really true. It is just the mind and ego avoiding the present moment. Let go of the stories and the pictures in the mind that are other than our Divine Nature. It’s easy. It is just a choice. When we recognize our Divine Nature, we no longer play small, weak, or less than who we truly are. My prayer is that everyone sees and makes this connection. It is just a decision. Setting in motion what we might call a miracle. A miracle we create ourselves. Blessings, healing and love to all. Thank you.

Marianne: Marti! Thank you so much! Boy that was good. That was great. Also, you’re a good writer darling. That was really cool.

So… as Marti just said, it’s funny because I was just going to say to [seminar participant’s name], you know these stories that we have, like you know… ‘I was adopted…’ or ya know whatever the story is… “my parents did this…” anything before in the past… anything that was other than the love that we gave and the love we received, was as exactly what Marti just said, it was just a story. And when Marti says, just change your mind and get out of it…. you know I understand that mind that says, “Oh it’s not that simple”, but ya know what guys, on a certain level it is.

Because in any moment, ya know, I love that when some people talk about the Bible…when they talk about Jesus and the greatest story ever told. The greatest story ever told is the story of us becoming the people that we’re capable of being. And that’s what that story is. The story of the birth of the true Self. Fathered by God and mothered by our humanity. Sometimes people say why do you call God He? The use of the traditional Judeo-Christian language is in the CIM and that’s why I use it. In the Eastern religions they talk about the yin and the yang, and the yin is the feminine earth principle and the yang is the masculine sky principle. It’s very fascinating because to the extent to which you call God He, the human soul is She. And I said earlier in the call, it’s not that food or anything else can’t fill up the hole inside you; it’s there is no hole inside us. There is no hole inside us when we allow ourselves to realize that which is impregnating us spiritually every moment, and that is the Spirit of God. And when we in our mortal selves – in our bodies, in our mortal selves, allow ourselves to be penetrated as it were by Spirit, and make that connection, then something happens. We’re in a different place within ourselves, and as we stand within that different place within ourselves, moment by moment by moment, and yes it takes practice, then all the physical self will do is simply manifest that. Because our thoughts are creating and recreating the physical body every moment.

Okay, we’ve got [seminar participant’s name] on the phone… Did you just hear the email I read from Marti about giving up our stories? (A: No.) Okay, so you were adopted, and you recently found your family…”

Does our Brain Create Synchronicity?

321596_359479884153404_1403369054_nWhile this blog is not strictly about the topic of synchronicity or “synchrodipity”, I ran across this article while perusing WordPress earlier and wanted to share this take on synchronicity as self-created ‘meaningful coincidences’, as opposed to something magical created from outside of self (i.e.: Jungian archetypes, supernatural cause or other external explanation etc.) I know that “EVERYthing is interconnected”, therefore the specific how or why of it doesn’t really matter… just the acknowledgment and recognition of the seemingly little ‘miracles’ that ‘happen’ (or that we create) in each and every present moment.  – mu

(Excerpts from) Rethinking Synchronicity: You Have the Amazing Ability to Create Coincidence

By Kirby Surprise Psy.D.

“Synchronistic events (SE) are those uncanny coincidences in which the environment seems to be speaking directly to us through events. In my work as a psychologist, I have clients who report radio and television broadcasts, random events of all sorts, comment on what they are thinking as if something was reading their minds. Psychologists call this experience “Thought of Reference.” Events seem to reference the thoughts of the client. Many clients with psychotic disorders experience thoughts of reference. But what if they were not reporting a symptom of mental illness, but an experience everyone has in some form? What if televisions really do seem to comment on what we are thinking?…

Everyone has experienced meaningful coincidences. They are explained by supernatural and religious beliefs, archetypal influences, or more exotic personal mythologies. SE mirrors these beliefs back to the observer. SE sometimes become mistaken for confirmations of the objective reality of personal beliefs. Most people are looking into the mirror of SE every day. They don’t realize the images they see are their own thoughts. You have an amazing ability. Your thoughts and feelings, your memories and experiences, are reproduced in the events around you as coincidences. The world shapes itself around your thoughts, presenting you with meaningful coincidences based on your inner life. Everyone creates their own SE, constantly. The ability is innate to the way our brains process information into meaning. This seemingly magical ability goes largely unnoticed, unexplained and misunderstood until it presents itself in spectacular form…

The brain deletes most information before it reaches consciousness, and often substantially alters our sensory information, filling in gaps and highlighting patterns it believes are important. As a result of this process we all live in a highly modified representation of the world. Our reality is literally a massively simplified construction of the patterns our brain thinks most important at any given moment. Finding meaning between patterns, between events, is what we do best. For SE, there are no physical limitations. For SE, there are no physical limitations. Rolling over a house is no more of a coincidence than rolling over a pair of dice. Our mirror test is the entire universe, and it reflects the meanings your mind creates. SE will appear to be caused by whatever the observer believes causes them. Looking for SE consciously, knowing SE are a mirror of your thoughts, reveals your astonishing ability to shape your experience of the universe according to the thoughts you choose.” – end (Emphasis in bold mine.)
