Let Go of the Stories

969206_223880034433500_981849729_n I made a comment during a recent Q&A with Marianne Williamson in her 4-week online seminar called ‘Divine Alignment of Body and Soul’. It was a very spontaneous decision to write and submit this comment regarding holding onto ego/mind stories that do not serve us, ‘raise’ our level of consciousness or well-being, or lift us out of limited ideas about who we are and what we are capable of BEing.

I have observed how many, if not most people – in this case, ones who had created body issues for themselves, also seem to have a strong attachment to a negative narrative running in their mind – a ‘story’ or ‘stories’ related to their history or some type of experience, ‘trauma’, or set of circumstances ‘outside’ of themselves. As if something external was/is responsible for our thoughts, choices, addictions, and unhealthy or unloving behaviors towards ourselves and/or others. This type of thinking and ‘victim consciousness’ is what Caroline Myss calls “woundology”. I was hearing and reading about a lot of woundology-speak from participants during the seminar, so I wanted to briefly raise the topic (and share the transcript of the excerpt here), because I know that for most who think and speak in woundology stories, it is an unconscious, habitual, pattern that reinforces the ‘wound’, trauma’, behavior and thinking. I also know that something wonderful happens, and a shift occurs on a mental and deep cellular level once we recognize our very own ‘Divine’ Nature’. Everything changes. Everything.

Mind-Body Healing and the Placebo Effect

20030217_400Can we affect the outcome of our health, and illness, when we energize the powers of healing within ourselves?

“There is solid evidence that the course of a disease in general is affected by emotional distress…Thus, we as doctors may begin to emphasize treatment of the patient as a whole as well as the disease from which the patient is suffering” (Simonton, Getting Well Again, 28)

World-renown Oncologist and founder of the Simonton Research Institute and Simonton Center, Dr. O. Carl Simonton said that the “most powerful healing tool” he had to offer his patients was how to use the mind to heal – such as the Silva Method and “imagery therapy” for cancer. Dr. Simonton was trained by

A Man Named Jose Silva

Jose Silva speculated that if most illnesses are caused by the mind, it is extremely likely that most illnesses can be reversed by the mind. By healing your mind, your emotional state, and changing your thought patterns, you can create physical well-being.

Silva Stunned Crowds of People with Demonstrations Showing Instantaneous Mind-Body Healing

“Silva would begin his mind-body healing classes by requesting a volunteer. In front of hundreds, Jose would first guide the volunteer into a healing brain state and then hypnotize him or her. Thereafter, he’d announce that the whiteboard marker in his hand was actually a red hot poker. Then he would press the marker against the volunteer’s hand, and instantly, a blister would form. With the audience in shock, Silva would then tell the volunteer that he could heal the wound in seconds. Thereafter, he would proceed to put his hand on the wound, and the blister completely disappeared within seconds.”

In Jose Silva’s own words: “…For instance, I was testing an individual at one time, for positive hallucination. Positive hallucination means that the person would experience more than was actually present in the environment. Here is how I did it:

Fooling the body

I took my subject to a deep theta level. Even though he was deeply hypnotized, he had his eyes open and was watching me. Then I told him that I was going to touch him with a red hot iron. I picked up a piece of stainless steel with a pair of pliers, and touched the back of his hand with it. Even though the piece of stainless steel was not hot, when I touched him with it, he screamed. He felt the burn. He felt the heat…he experienced a positive hallucination…he was sensing more than what was there. The piece of stainless steel was still at room temperature. Not only did he feel the pain, his body responded as if it has been burned. Ninety percent of the subjects you do this to develop a little red spot, little red dot, as if they were burned with boiling water, or something like that. Ten percent develop a blister. I was lucky to see that phenomenon. My subject developed a blister. I asked myself, “What happened here? I didn’t burn him. Did I fool the healing process, the natural healing process of the body, to send healing chemistry to a spot that did not need it?”  I realized that that’s exactly what happened. My suggestion caused his healing mechanism to build a blister, build new skin under it, and get rid of that burned skin. But the skin was not actually burned. Then I wondered, “Could we send in extra healing chemistry to accelerate the healing process? Of course you can do that. If you can do one, you can do the other. No question there.”

The Mind-Body Connection: What Big Pharma Doesn’t Want People To Know…

Why? They will lose billions and billions of dollars each year. Big Pharma exists and runs on fear and intimidation. Big Pharma perpetuates the Big Lie that if people don’t take the toxic pharmaceutical medications that are prescribed by their allopathic doctors, they will not, and cannot heal or get better.

What Big Pharma Is Afraid Of…

“Placebos Are Getting More Effective: Drug Makers are Desperate to Know Why.” [Placebo pills are] “suddenly overwhelming promising new drugs and established medicines alike… Ironically, Big Pharma’s attempt to dominate the central nervous system has ended up revealing how powerful the brain really is. The placebo response doesn’t care if the catalyst for healing is a triumph of pharmacology, a compassionate therapist, or a syringe of salt water. All it requires is a reasonable expectation of getting better. That’s potent medicine.”—Wired Magazine

Isn’t It Ironic?

Each and every experimental drug must be tested against a placebo in order to earn FDA approval. It’s true. Pharmaceutical manufacturers have to prove their pills work at least as well as a placebo. It is the ‘standard‘ against which chemical and toxic medications are measured.

In her book, Mind Over Medicine, Dr. Lissa Rankin discusses the placebo effect and writes in her blog “we hold within us self-healing superpowers that are stronger than any chemotherapy and more effective than any surgery.”

Yes, the mind is a powerful creator. It can heal the body. It can reverse symptoms and illness and create health. We can affect the outcome of our health, and illness.
